I love doing all different types of design, and this one is one of my recent favorites. My friend Cindy owns Star Hair & Makeup and does a lot of professional makeup in the city. Her and her super talented friends are putting on an event called ‘Anything Goes’ and they asked me to the do the flyer! Check it out, and contact any of them if you’re interested in the event.

Becky + Brian: A Wedding On The Lake

Back in July of 2009, my good friend Brian proposed to his girlfriend Becky! They met at Gannon University their senior year, and have been together ever since. When they approached me to do their wedding invitation package – I was so honored that they wanted me involved in their wedding!! Here is the first piece in a long line of paper pieces that I created for their special day. Their color was blue with a chocolate brown accent. You’ll see that carry through in the entire collection. Below are their Save The Date cards – and I will be posting a separate entry for each piece. Enjoy!

Vision Quest Athletics: An Athletic Training Center

Welcome to Visit Quest Athletics – an athletic training center located in Countryside, Illinois, 20 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. I was approached about doing their website, and was really excited to take on this project!

The gym is geared to all ages, but primarily focused on athletic training for adolescents, whether it be wrestling, baseball and softball, hockey, basketball, or boxing. Their staff of experienced trainers will keep you focused and on track to achieve your personal goals.

Jessica + Jaison: Winter Wonderland

November 21, 2009, my cousin Jaison married his teenage dream, Jessica. It was, by far, one of the most fun weddings I have ever been involved with, and I was honored when they asked me to a bridesmaid.

Fast forward to this November 20th. Jessica and Jaison decided to throw a one-year anniversary party for all of their attendants and guests; sort of a little reunion. Being the designer that I am, and knowing that a one-year anniversary gift is paper, I couldn’t help myself. I decided to use a professional photo from their wedding, done by their photographer Amanda Wilson, to make custom Christmas cards for them. It was going to be a surprise so I had to get a good quality photo without them really finding out what it was going to be used for.

To give you a background, our dresses were metallic blue – probably one of the prettiest dresses I have ever worn in a wedding.

To keep with the theme of the metallic blue, I ordered metallic blue envelopes to go with the cards. I then took one of their wedding photos, and converted it to black and white. After adding some text treatment, VOILA! my one year anniversary gift was complete!

They were surprised and loved them when I handed them over at the party! Happy Anniversary you two, and here’s to many many more.

Brown Eyed Baker: A Baking Blog

My UBER talented sister, Michelle, runs www.browneyedbaker.com, a baking blog about all things delicious! Since she started this blog back in 2007, we have worked together on the look and feel, and I have been in charge of all of the graphic components. Back on June 1, 2010, she re-launched her blog with a brand new design and feel.

We took her old logo from this:

The idea was to move from a heavy graphical logo, to a more classic, simplistic look, which I think we achieved. Fast forward 6 months later, and she launched two new sections to her blog: Brown Eyed Baker: Unplugged and Steel & Ice by Brown Eyed Baker. Unplugged is a blog talking about anything non-food related, and Steel & Ice is all sports related, focusing heavily on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins. Her logo was incorporated in these two new brands as follows:

It was very important to keep her current brand of Brown Eyed Baker, but incorporate it with these two new sections on her blog. I have to say I really enjoyed working on the Steel & Ice logo. It was a lot of fun, and who doesn’t love Pittsburgh sports?

Along with the new logos came new color schemes, background images, side bar headings, and post breaks. All of these components are custom designed to her site, which allows the look and feel of it all to come together really nicely. Check out her blog, and the delicious eye candy of all of the awesome baking she does. I’m sure you will find a new holiday recipe to try as well!

Kim + Jack: A Zoo Affair

I want to welcome Kim and Jack to the LiLoLa Family! Kim and Jack hired me to do their wedding stationery and I couldn’t be more excited. The date is set for May 29, 2011. They have chosen one of my favorite places in Pittsburgh to hold their reception, which is the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium in the Water’s Edge. Polar bears will be swimming over the buffet line – how cool is that! Kim and Jack’s colors are lime green and dark blue, so for the Save The Dates we chose a lime green envelope and black and white printing. There is also a 1″ half moon die-cut on each end of the card, to give it a ‘ticket’ feel for their guests. Kim and Jack, as well as myself, were very happy with the outcome of their Save The Dates, and I’m looking forward to collaborating on the main invitations.
